What's Going On with the Cows in Goodhue County?

I was checking out the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office highlights for the first two weeks of October and there were four items that really stuck out to me. Each week, there was an issue with cows and issues with dough-heads not seeing GCSO squad cars! Check it out

Goodhue County Seems to Have a Problem with Renegade Cows

From the report last week:

Belvidere TWP- A report of a cow, a calf, and 6 goats on the loose. The cow was able to knock over the fence, setting up the escape for the other fugitives. They were all rounded up and returned home before any more criminal activities were committed. There were no mug shots available at the time of this post.

From the report this week:

Belvidere TWP- Deputies took a report of 2 cows being out of their enclosure. They snuck to a neighbor’s property and began to eat from their food pile. The owner was able to get those 2 cows back in. While deputies were on scene, they located a 3rd cow that was out. After contacting the owner again, he declined to come out and secure the cow. He was advised that he would be responsible for any damage caused. A report has been forwarded to the county attorney for charging considerations.

a) Two weeks in a row? These cows must be put in some sort of program before they get out of hand. Farming has long been a popular way to help divert kids from a dangerous path. But with cows, do you send 'em to someone's house in the city?

ii) The owner didn't want to go get his third cow? This may be why the cows are acting up. Not enough quality time with their caretaker. I'll bet the third unclaimed cow was the cow that got into trouble with the goats the week before!

Goodhue County Seems to Have A Problem with Looking Out Vehicle Windows

Most of us were taught to look out the vehicle's windows before crossing the street, entering an intersection, or turning left into the frozen foods aisle at Hy-Vee. What's the deal, dough-heads in Red Wing, y'not get the memo?

From the report last week:

Red Wing- A driver was given a citation for failure to yield when they were second in line to make a left turn but were too impatient to wait. They went around the vehicle in front of them and almost caused a collision with a squad car.

From the report this week:

Red Wing- A citation was given to a driver for going 90 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. The driver passed a squad and after they were pulled over, they admitted they did not realize they passed a marked squad car.

I'm being a little flip here, but seriously, these LEOs work long hours doing a job that's important and dangerous, and they don't need us knocking into their squad cars because we're not paying attention. Pick it up a notch, dough-heads.

Just A Few More Goodhue County Sheriff's Office Report Highlights

Drug bag
This is not the drug deal in question, this is just a representation of a drug deal. Or of a person about to say, "This is all the corn flour I have left, mom." (Sin Bota)

  • Dennison- Report of a past action drug deal that occurred a few weeks ago. I am thinking of adding something similar like this to the blotter each week just to keep the drug dealers on their toes.
  • Pine Island- A reporting party called to say their dog dug up some bones. It turned out to be a metal plate- not bones.
  • Pine Island TWP- Suspicious activity that was caught on a Ring Cam was reported. The person caught on camera is well known to Law Enforcement and was quickly identified.
  • HWY 52- A citation was issued to a driver for driving after suspension. There were 5 passengers in the vehicle- NONE of them had a valid license. Show me your friends and I will show you your future.
  • HWY 52- A driving complaint about a vehicle that was cutting off other vehicles, speeding, brake checking and flashing its headlights led deputies to locating the vehicle. The driver and passenger were both found to have warrants out of other counties. Both were arrested. Nothing like attracting a whole bunch of attention when you have warrants. YES!  I've been preaching this very thought. James.
