Transitional Housing of Steele County has been operating since 2000. It started as a meeting of concerned people and churches who wanted to eliminate homelessness in Steele County.

Individuals in the program find their own apartment, sign their own lease, and pay a portion of their own rent according to their income. Transitional Housing subsidizes the rent. The client must make adequate progress toward self sufficiency in order to remain in the program.

There are currently 20 families in the two-year transitional housing program with a waiting list of 30 families.

The giveHOPE concert will be Saturday, November 17 at 7PM at the Owatonna Senior High auditorium. Organizers Tammi and Michael Ferch will perform along with members of other popular local groups such as "The Gogs", "Bad Tangerines," Hot'n Bothered," and "Street Talk". The cost of admission is a free will donation.
