The Steele County Free Fair has announced this inductees into the Equine Hall of Fame and the Livestock Hall of Fame.

LuVerne Utpadel will be inducted posthumously in the 2015 Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 12:30PM in the livestock show arena. Utpadel was a 4-H leader for the Beaver Lake Beavers and was named the Steele County 4-H Leader of the Year in 1975. He was also instrumental in the building of the first fast horse arena on the fairgrounds. Utpadel died in 1997.

Inductees to the Livestock Hall of Fame this year will be Barb Kasper, Howard Schoenfeld and Donald Sloan. The ceremony will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 2PM in the livestock show arena.

Kasper is a 20-year board member for the American Dairy Association and serves as regional president. She has served as director of the Minnesota Milk Producers and is a former AMPI District President. The Kasper family was honored as the Steele County Farm Family of the Year in 1992.

The Howard Schoenfeld family was named Steele County Farm Family of the Year in 1989. Howard has served as a director and past president of the Steele County Pork Producers.

Sloan was a 40-year member of the Holstein Association. His Ellendale farm was featured on the cover of the Holstein World magazine in 1962. Among his other accomplishments are the development and selling of herd sire to American Breeders Service. Sloan died in 1996.
