Additional Information

River Bend Nature Center is hosting science and nature-themed homeschool programs where homeschooled children can learn and play together. The next homeschool program is “Geology Rocks” on October 26 from 2-3:30PM, in which students will learn about the geology of the area by exploring River Bend’s on-site quarry, spotting fossils, recreating the geological history of Minnesota (including dinosaurs) and making their own fossils.

The monthly homeschool science series are hosted by River Bend’s experienced naturalists and will focus on different themes each month. Classes are held on the last Monday of the month (unless otherwise noted) from 2-3.30PM. Each program will be a combination of outdoor and indoor activities including nature hikes and rambles, art and craft activities, games, and other surprises. If the class is large enough, it will be divided by age into groups of children age 7 and younger or 8 and older.

The cost of the program is $8 per program per child. Preregistration is required by the Friday before the class, online at rbnc.org/homeschool/ or by phone at (507) 332-7151. For more information about this and other homeschool classes, contact Cian Gill at (507) 332-7151 or by email at gill@rbnc.org.
