On the corner of the southbound I-35 exit near Ellendale, there once was Trucker's Inn. They had a nice restaurant with a salad bar. It was also a gas station and a convenience store. Then that closed and eventually it was a pizza place. That, however, did not stay very long and the building sat empty.

About a year ago, there was talk that Casey's General Store was going to be in the Trucker's Inn spot on the corner by the freeway.

There was some behind-the-scenes work done. The pumps were gone. This week I noticed the building was half gone, three-quarters gone and then down to a sliver. Finally I made a point to stop and was able to get some pictures of the clean-up.

It looks like it will happen.

The city council approved that Casey's could use a portion of the land as a future truck stop and eventually build a CAT Scale on the property.

Here are the big toys cleaning up.
