The Twins play Monday in Chicago to open the 2014 season. The baseball opener at my house came Sunday as Aaron and I played catch for a few minutes in the backyard.

I told him a few days before, that if the temp got to 60 degrees we 'needed' to play catch to 'officially' start our baseball season. He plays summer baseball and I coach his team; mostly getting guys thrown out at home plate as I 'send them home' at almost every chance!

My shoes filled with snow as I walked to the small grassy area in the backyard. Aaron got all his clothes filled with snow as he insisted on diving after a ball. With my occasionally erratic throwing, he would have had a chance to dive for a ball even without making the request.

I doubt this year can be any more challenging than last year when numerous games were rained out and we played several with standing water in the infield. But it is Minnesota. So we'd better be ready for anything.

The Twins opener at Chicago will be played in windy conditions. Would you expect anything else in Chicago? The Twins Home Opener next Monday should have some decent weather!
