Back in December the Minnesota Department of Transportation started their Name a Snow Plow Contest, check out the finalists and vote for your favorite.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says that it got nearly 24,000 entries into the contest, and they've plowed through all the suggestions to come up with a list of 50 finalists and voting is open.

The public can view the 50 finalists and vote for their favorites here, you can select up to 8 names to vote for on the list, voting will be open until Friday, February 26th at 5 PM.

There are some pretty creative suggestions, here are a few of my favorites:

  • The Truck Formerly Known as Plow
  • Snowbi Wan Kenobi
  • Plowy McPlowFace
  • Plowabunga
  • Sir Plows A Lo

After the voting closes the Minnesota Department of Transportation says it will take the top eight vote getters and name one plow in each of the state's eight districts.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation the state has 840 plow trucks and more than 1,800 full-time and part-time snowplow drivers to operate those trucks, all of which that have a Class B commercial driver’s license and take a two-week training course at at Camp Ripley each year.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation maintains 30,585 miles of state highways and interstates throughout the state. Each plow truck costs between $170,000 and $210,000. MnDOT has 150 truck stations across the state.
