It was a busy weekend last weekend, BBBS of Southern Minnesota had their Bowl For Kids' Sake, there was the 41st Annual Young Life Cake Auction, and of course the St. Mary's Night of Knights Auction, which took place on Saturday evening.

The auction is a fundraiser for the school, 100% of the proceeds go right back to St. Mary's School, so you know where your money is going and what it is supporting. St. Mary's School offers classes from pre-school through 8th grade. Full disclosure neither one of my girls went to school there, and my youngest is too old now to enroll, she's going to be in High School next year. So, I have never been to the Auction, until this year.

My god-daughter is in the preschool program at St. Mary's, and I joined her mother at the auction. I was just blown away by the organization of all of the silent auction tables, not too mention all of the items up for bids. They also had you sign in with your cell phone in order to bid that way, very easy. The cafeteria was full of tables, and people. It was reported to KRFO that about 500 people were in attendance, what a large group!

The main event, the live auction opened with the Knights of Columbus Men's Choir singing a hymn and the National Anthem, along with a prayer from one of the Fathers. Then the auction got started. Our very own John Connor was the announcer, and there was an auctioneer to keep people going. All of the packages were quite amazing, and all were donated.

The committee reported that in addition to the 500 people, there is an unofficial total of $215,000 in net profit. Talk about a great night! And I didn't have to get dressed up, as the theme was to dress in your best flannel. Bonus.
