SE Minnesota City Asks Citizens To Report Covid Violators
Red Wing, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears the city of Red Wing is toughening its enforcement of Minnesota’s current COVID-related emergency order - and asking citizens to turn in any violators.
The city has released an announcement that indicates the Red Wing Police Department is shifting from an “educational” approach to an “enforcement” response in enforcing the order.
“To maintain all citizens' safety, the Red Wing Police Department will increase their response and issue citations when encountering groups gathered in public parks, parking lots, or businesses. Previously, Red Wing Police Officers attempted to educate participants and encourage them to disperse without issuing citations. Enforcement of Executive Order 20-99 and individuals who violate the order will be guilty of a misdemeanor with the possibility of a $1,000 fine or imprisonment of up to 90 days.”
"The city reminds residents the state order includes “conditions related to outdoor recreational activities prohibiting close proximity to others from different households. The activities include social gatherings, performances, competitions, team events, fairs, or other events that bring people together for a shared or coordinated social, community or leisure purpose that involve individuals from more than one household."
And the announcement concludes with this message:
We ask that you report any violation to
• Red Wing Police Department non-emergency number at 651.385.3155.
• Minnesota Department of Public Safety Hotline at 651-297-1304 or 1-800-657-3504
