Kenyon Industrial Park Project Begins Today
Goodhue County Road 12 will be fully closed near the intersection with Mantorville Road in Kenyon beginning Monday, September 28, 2020. Kenyon City officials have been working to get an industrial park for a number of years and are excited to see it finally become a reality.
When we were in Kenyon for our KDHL Community Day broadcast in May City Administrator Mark Vahlsing expressed his excitement for the project.
Kenyon Police Chief Lee Sjolander echoed those comments last Friday during the Kenyon-Wanamingo Area News on KDHL. The road is being closed for city utility work.
The closure is expected to last 2 to 3 weeks. During this time there will be no eastern access to or from Kenyon by County Road 12.
The official marked detour routes are County Road 1 and Minnesota Highway 60.
Goodhue County Road 12 is my favorite route to take to Rochester because it is nearly all straight road to get onto Highway 52 in Zumbrota.
This is especially beneficial in winter navigating the many curves of Highway 60 with a lot of semis on the road. Very rarely do I see the big trucks on County Road 12.
In the fall however you do need to stay alert to deer flying out of ditches. I've also seen turkeys, pheasants and other wildlife along the roadway.
