Major Retail Chain Will Close All Stores Including 7 in Minnesota

In recent decades, changes in how people shop have led to a decline in shopping malls. This shift has forced many well-known mall brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Express, and Macy's to close numerous stores due to the challenges posed by the evolving retail environment.

They are not the only ones facing these struggles. Many brick-and-mortar businesses are losing the battle with online shopping. A once-popular clothing store that operates more than 500 locations in the United States is the latest to pull the plug.

Can Malls Make a Comeback?

I grew up in the 90s before social media and smartphones took over. During that time, the mall was where my friends and I would always hang out. It's kind of sad to witness the gradual decline of malls nowadays.

One mall isn't giving up just yet though. A $400 Million investment was made to create the 'mall of the future' here in Minnesota.

After filing for bankruptcy on three different occasions, Rue21 has finally thrown in the towel. The company revealed it's shutting down all its stores, including the seven that are in Minnesota.

The clothing store has locations in Albertville, Bemidji, Blaine, Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud, and St. Paul.

Rue 21, with over 500 stores across 45 states, is set to shut down all of its locations within the next 4-6 weeks. Customers can anticipate substantial going-out-of-business sales as the company aims to clear its remaining inventory.
