Little-Known Southern Minnesota Beaches Perfect for a Hot Day
We've had a crazy heat wave this week in southeast Minnesota. It's the perfect time of year to cool down at a beach with friends and family! And there are a couple around southern Minnesota that are considered 'little-known' so they would be great spots to check out.
Little-Known Beaches in Southern Minnesota
We have so many beautiful beaches around Minnesota but sometimes that can be absolutely crowded with people. So if you can find a place that's lesser known, you've hit the jackpot!
I found a list from Only in Your State that shares some little-known beaches around Minnesota and a couple of those are in southern Minnesota.
Afton State Park Beach
One of those beaches is Afton State Park Beach in Hastings. I've never been to this beach myself but it looks like a nice place to relax on a hot day. And since it's at a state park there's also hiking and camping so you can make a weekend of it!
Flandrau State Park Beach
The other beach that's considered 'little-known' is at Flandrau State Park in New Ulm. It's a man-made beach and is actually a chlorinated pool with a sandy bottom. Pretty cool! I haven't swam in this one but I've seen it when visiting Flandrau and I'd go back and swim there sometime. Also, this is another state park so you can also camp and hike here plus New Ulm is a cool town to check out.
