Jill Strodtman, Youth Program Supervisor and Kevin O'Brien, Recreation Superintendent from Faribault Parks and Recreation were guests recently on the KDHL AM Minnesota program.

They gave us details about the 2023 Pet Parade which is Thursday, August 10, 2023.

All parade participants need to be positioned in their parade lineup spot by 6:20 p.m.

Line-Up on 9th Street NW.  Parade starts at 9th and 2nd Avenue NW which has been under construction but you can hear audio from the show where they say they were assured by the Public Works Department the route will be open for the 87th Annual Faribault Pet Parade.

The route goes south on 2nd Avenue NW to fifth street and then goes west to Central Park.

Side streets will have barricades in place by 6:30 p.m. so please do not drive through the staging area.

Strodtman commented her favorite all-time entry was a chicken in a stroller.  She sent KDHL a copy of the photo.  It is unique.

It is a Pet Parade. Indeed there are scores of animals but you don't have to have a pet to be in the parade.

Other classifications such as bikes and trikes and floats are included where kids are encouraged to be creative with the theme for the parade.

Here is a listing of the other categories:  rabbits, cats, dogs, farm animals, unusual pets, wagons, costumes, strollers, golf carts, ATV's/Side by Sides

A number of local daycares, sports clubs, scout troops and businesses participate.

After the parade treats are handed out to participants in Central Park where Jivin' Ivan and the Kings of Swing will entertain during the Concerts in the Park series.

Here is our conversation on KDHL about the Pet Parade in Faribault.
