Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - What was initially investigated as a possible residential burglar alarm ended up being a fire that caused in excess of $100,000 in damage to a home in Southeast Rochester last night.

The Rochester Fire Department says fire crews responded to a residence at 810 13th Street Southeast at 10:40 PM after police officers arrived at the property and saw flames and smoke coming from the house. The first firefighters at the scene spotted smoke coming from a broken basement window and a search was initiated to make sure no one was inside.

A news release says excessive heat from the fire on the main floor of the home initially prevented the firefighters from locating the source of the flames. It was eventually determined that the fire had extended through a chase in the center of the house and it was extinguished.

No one was in the home at the time and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
