Rochester Area’s Unemployment Rate Ties Record Low
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Olmsted County’s unemployment rate in November hit a mark not seen since the 1990s.
That’s according to the latest round of unemployment data released by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). Local unemployment data has been kept by the state agency since 1976.
According to the data, November’s unemployment rate in Olmsted County was 1.4%. That ties a record-low that was set in October, November and December of 1998.
November’s unemployment rate in the Rochester area decreased from 2.2% in October of this year. Olmsted County’s labor force, which is the sum of employed and unemployed people, decreased from 93,153 in October to 92,334 last month.
Despite decreasing, November 2023’s labor force is still roughly 22,000 people higher than it was during the record-low unemployment seen in 1998.
