The criminal complaint says a security camera video recorded McCaskel pulling out the gun as a vehicle slowly drove past him in an alleyway and then McCaskel engaging in an exchange of gunfire with the occupants of the vehicle. McCaskel, who was shot and suffered non-life-threatening wounds, fell to the pavement.

While investigating the shooting, Minneapolis Police recovered his gun and two spent shell casings. According to the court document, investigators also found several suspected fentanyl pills and cash in McCaskel's possession.

In addition to the 186-month prison sentence, McCaskel was also ordered to spend three years on supervised release following his discharge from prison.
