Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail has been set at $250,000 for the Rochester teenager accused of breaking into a woman's apartment early Friday morning.

Rochester Police reported the arrest of 18-year-old Jamine Jamonte Robinson Jr. shortly after the burglary was reported around 12:30 AM at an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Superior Drive Northwest. The criminal complaint says police encountered Robinson and a juvenile male at a nearby convenience store and Robinson took off running when he was told they were under arrest.

The court document says he was apprehended while trying to climb onto the balcony of his nearby apartment. The juvenile did not try to flee and according to the complaint, he told police, "I told him not to do it"

The charges say Robinson denied being involved in the burglary, but the other teenager told the officers that they had looked into the window of an apartment and assumed the resident had a lot of money. The juvenile then stated that Robinson went inside the residence and took a purse off the couch, and when the victim attempted to stop him, he shoved the woman, grabbed the money, and left the apartment.

The victim in the case, a 70-year-old woman, told officers that she was in her bedroom when she heard a noise and went into the kitchen to investigate. She noticed a window was open and then spotted an intruder crouched by the couch.

The victim reported the person then removed money from her purse and pushed her away with his elbow when she attempted to stop him. She then told the officers that she opened the door to her apartment and yelled for help before the burglar fled with the cash from her purse. She indicated she was missing $40.

Robinson was formally charged Friday with two counts of first-degree burglary, including one involving an assault, along with a felony count of simple robbery, and a misdemeanor charge of fleeing police. He is scheduled to return to court for another hearing next month.
