Northern Minnesota’s First Cat Café Shares Grand Opening Date, New Details

The wait is nearly over for cat lovers excited to spend some time at the first cat cafe in Northern Minnesota.

Last summer Wired Whisker Cat Café announced they'd be opening in the Twin Ports area, eventually sharing they'd be making their home in a building on East Superior Street in Duluth near Amazing Alonzo's Bookstore.

As the owner Misha and her husband have continued their work to remodel the building they purchased, I was able to get a peek inside of the building earlier this spring to get a look at what to expect.

Misha purchased what used to be a daycare building, knowing a complete renovation of the building would be necessary to make it a great place to host her café. Working hard through the winter, the project is nearly complete, and Misha is excited to welcome cat and coffee lovers very soon!

In a series of social media updates, Misha has been sharing some new details ahead of the grand opening scheduled for later this month. Here's what's new and when you'll be able to visit!

Cat Lounge booking is available now!

The first update is on the cat lounge area, which is a separate part of the café from where you'll be able to get and enjoy food and beverages. As I had shared previously, you'll need to book time in advance to spend time in the cat lounge area. What's new is that booking is now available via their website, which costs between $5 and $10 per person, depending on the day and time you're interested in.

Visiting the coffee shop (which is in a separate space) doesn't require any sort of cover charge, and you could grab a coffee and go see the lounge area without having to book a time.

The fee is being used to cover the cost of care and maintenance for the cats and the lounge area. While booking ahead is strongly recommended, you can book and pay for time in the lounge at the coffee counter depending on availability.

Wired Whisker grand opening date announced

Misha says Wired Whisker will hold their grand opening on Friday, May 31, opening at 7:00 am. This includes the café space to grab something to eat or drink as well as the cat lounge for people looking to get some early morning cat time.
