One of the biggest names on the indie rock scene is kicking off a big new tour in Minnesota this fall

Weezer just announced their "Voyage to the Blue Planet" tour, which will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1994 debut album Weezer, known by most fans as the Blue Album.

Produced by Ric Ocasek of the classic rock act The Cars, the Blue Album launched the careers of Weezer with songs like "Undone – The Sweater Song", "Buddy Holly", and "Say It Ain't So".

Weezer will play the entire Blue Album along with other fan-favorites and some surprises along the way. The tour celebration will extend across several dates throughout North America, kicking right here in Minnesota!

Joining Weezer are a pair of opening acts indie rock fans will be familiar with.

1980s and 1990s act Dinosaur Jr. will be one of the two opening acts, bringing their distinct sound and alt-rock chart songs like "Start Choppin'", "The Wagon", and "Feel the Pain".

Also joining Weezer will be Oklahoma City's own The Flaming Lips with their psychedelic alt-rock sounds.

Weezer and their guest acts will kick off their tour at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The only other Midwestern date for the tour is in Illinois two days later, making the St. Paul show the best chance for people in and around Minnesota to see this tour.

Tickets go on sale for the tour on Friday, March 15 at 10 am local time. Fans can buy tickets from the Weezer website.
