Now then, that doesn't happen every day. I love the fact that there is a little town in Minnesota named Nowthen. Seriously! I thought it was a joke when I saw it on Facebook, but I looked it up and it's the real thing!

Nowthen is located in Anoka County, Minnesota. Its population is 4,536.
Nowthen Was Founded In 1869.
The City Of Nowthen was originally founded as Burns, Township in 1869. Later they were incorporated into the City Of Nowthen on June 30, 2008. So this town is only 16 years old!
Where did the name Nowthen come from?
This is the most Minnesota thing ever, and I love it. Back in 2008, Burns Township didn't want to be annexed by nearby cities. So they decided to incorporate the community to Nowthen. A little community on the corner of Country Roads 5 and 22 was named Nowthen. The phrase was first coined by the original postmaster, James Hare, who always would say "Now, then" in conversation. You can't make this up.

They just got a fire department a few years ago.
Nowthen built their first fire department just a few years ago in 2021. According to the wiki page, they already have 12 members working for the Fire Department, and they are expecting 8 more to join the ranks.
Nowthen Threshing Show Has Been Going On Annually Since 1971!
The whole community comes together for the annual Nowthen Threshing Show. It happens on the third week of August every year. There are a ton of activities and lots of history!
