This first weekend in June is graduation weekend for many of the area schools. I couldn't let the weekend go by without sharing some of my thoughts, and maybe reminiscing a little.

Owatonna's graduation ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 4, at 2PM, at the Four Seasons Centre. It was two years ago that I watched my daughter graduate as an Owatonna Husky, and I am not ashamed that I was "that mom" who cried through the whole thing. I don't think I understood why my mom cried when I graduated, at least not until I watched my own child graduate.

With all of the graduations, come the graduation parties. I enjoy all of them, usually you get to see pictures of the grad growing up, as well as some of their awards and accomplishments. It's also fun to visit with the parents a little, as well as the graduate.

I graduated from Albert Lea High School (Go Tigers!) 25 years ago, and it seems like it was just yesterday. I don't think anyone, especially at age 18, realizes how fast life will move forward. I know I didn't realize it, and looking back, I thought I would never get old enough to have a graduated child.

Congratulations to all of the area graduates, may your next phase in life bring you joy and happiness. Good luck on all your future endeavors.
