Gawkers Welcome; Downtown Owatonna Businesses Open During Construction
Come on downtown. Take a selfie in front of a 'road closed' sign. Get a close look at the work as the North Cedar Streetscape Project advances through downtown Owatonna. But while you're then, stop into a business. Shops are open during the construction and ready to serve their customers. Access might be a bit tricky, but many businesses have extra signage. Parking is available on nearby streets and in lots.
Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce (OACCT) President Brad Meier says in a public service announcement, "As we are building Owatonna, don't forget that businesses are open on North Center in downtown, Check out the construction progress up close and support your favorite business."
"Crews are getting close to completing the 300 block and soon will have the 200 block in full construction. These exciting changes are transforming downtown. The future is bright downtown but the businesses need your support today."

For the first week of September updates include water service installation, asbestos abatement on lines found at the Pearl Street intersection, and sidewalk construction along Rose Street.
The chamber also indicates, "A temporary sidewalk has been established along the new hotel development to allow as direct access as possible to businesses."
