I’ve lived in Faribault my entire life but my wife and I enjoy traveling all around Minnesota as well as the surrounding states. When I’m not at work I’m usually spending time with my grandchildren and my grown children. I enjoy going to watch the Vikings, especially at US Bank Stadium, concerts, taking my wife to various musicals and going out to eat… I really enjoy that, as my bathroom scale can attest. I love music and spend a lot of time on the weekends looking for CDs of big hair bands that I don’t currently have in my collection.

Christmas Lights Up the Night Just Off I-35
In my quest for beautiful Christmas lights, I thought I'd share with you one of the most spectacular and unique tribute to the holidays that I've ever seen. If you're heading south out of Faribault or north out of Medford on I-35 at night you have seen it as well because it lights up the night just off the west side of the highway...
Mike’s Top Five Stevie Nicks Singles
Stevie Nicks will be performing at the Xcel Energy Center tonight with special guest The Pretenders. Both of these artists have plenty of music to draw from in their long storied careers so this should be a memorable concert for those that go...
The Holiday Train is Coming to the Twin Cities
One of the things I really enjoy about the Christmas season is all the fun events that happen within our local communities as well as across the state. Last year my family and I went to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train in Waseca. This was the second time visiting this festively decorated train in Waseca...

Where Are The Christmas Lights?
Now that Thanksgiving is in our rear view mirror and Christmas shopping has begun in earnest with the annual Black Friday shopping chaos, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, which for many online retailers started last week or before, it's time to also think about Christmas decorations...
Faribault Christmas Light Show Canceled This Year
One of the things I look forward to each holiday season is all the beautifully decorated homes. Each year I like to drive around with my grandchildren or my wife and look at the houses that are lit up in celebration of Christmas. I enjoy them them all, whether it's a few strings of lights or the houses of Christmas chaos where they have a ton of lights and holiday-related characters all over the y
Only 3 Mall of America Stores to be Open on Thanksgiving
One of the things that I don't like about Black Friday is the way that it's slowly creeped into Thanksgiving. This means that the employees, more than likely those with lower seniority, are forced to disrupt their holiday plans with their families in order to work...
Thursday is Minnesota’s Give to the Max Day
It's hard to believe that it's been a year already, but Give to the Max Day begins at midnight tonight. According to their website, GiveMN.org, “GiveMN launched in 2009 as a collaborative venture led by Minnesota Community Foundation and many other organizations committed to helping make our state a better place” and their mission statement is, "We ignite generosity and grow giving...

Will You Step Up and Give Blood at an Area Blood Drive?
We mention American Red Cross Blood Drives quite often because it's an easy way to help others without costing you anything but a little time. With the donation of blood, you could save someone's life. As a matter of fact, you could be saving several people's lives...
Top 10 Minnesota Bands
Minnesota-born Bob Dylan recently turned up in the news because he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He's the first songwriter to receive this honor and it got me thinking about the different artists from Minnesota who have made an impact on the music world and, more specifically, bands that have managed to escape the definition of popular local Minnesota band and broke onto the charts wi
