‘Ghostbusters’ Do Some Ghost-Bustin’ in New Photo From Paul Feig’s Film
You just can't have Ghostbusters without proton packs. The first trailer for Paul Feig's Ghostbusters did feature a brief shot of the eponymous heroes using their packs, but if you want a better look (and you totally do), this new photo from the upcoming film shows the full potential of that handy ghost-bustin' tool. It's so bright you might need shades just to look at the photo.
‘The Jungle Book’ Debuts New Clips That Will Make You Hungry and Sad
Disney has released two new clips from The Jungle Book — one that will make you laugh as you reach for a snack, and another that will make you feel…some things. Let’s just get the emotional part of this out of the way up front so we can end on a more positive note, okay? Unless you feel particularly emotional about food, and in that case, feel free to reverse your viewing order.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Breaks a Bunch of Opening Records With $424 Million Worldwide
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had quite the weekend — not only did it break the March opening record previously held by The Hunger Games, but with $424 million worldwide, Zack Snyder’s epic now boasts the highest opening weekend for a Warner Bros. superhero movie. All those negative reviews predictably had zero effect on audiences, who flocked to see the long-awaited showdown between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Almost Had Jesse Eisenberg Play a More Shocking Role
This goes without saying at this point, but spoilers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to follow — so if you haven’t had a chance to see Zack Snyder’s new blockbuster just yet (it’s only Friday, after all), feel free to turn back now. That said, Snyder reveals the very different role Jesse Eisenberg almost had, along with some insight into a key scene that takes place early in the film.
Ben Affleck Confirms That He’s Working on ‘Something’ With DC’s Geoff Johns
When the cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice took the stage at Comic-Con last summer, reports immediately surfaced that Ben Affleck was in talks to direct a new Batman solo film. And almost immediately following those reports, DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns revealed that he was indeed developing a new Batman film with Affleck. And while Warner Bros. hasn’t made anything official, and Affleck hasn’t formally signed on, the actor and new Batman has confirmed that he is working on “something” with Johns — gee, what could that be?
Wonder Woman Is the Biggest Reason People Want to See ‘Batman vs. Superman’
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's right there in the title: Batman fighting Superman is the titular attraction (and also maybe some justice?), and yet according to a new survey, Wonder Woman is the part of the film audiences are looking forward to the most. Gal Gadot's debut as the iconic superhero ranked highest in the poll, with Jesse Eisenberg's wacky take on Lex Luthor coming in second.
‘Baywatch’ Set Photos Bring David Hasselhoff Back to the Bay
You can’t have a Baywatch movie without David Hasselhoff. Just a few weeks ago, Dwayne Johnson confirmed what we all assumed by announcing that the star of the original series would be joining the upcoming film, and now we have photographic evidence. While we wait to find out if his equally iconic co-star Pamela Anderson will also be making an appearance in the Baywatch movie, enjoy this set of photos featuring the Hoff and his new pals.
New Movie Releases: April 2016
With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hitting theaters this month and Captain America: Civil War arriving in May, April offers us a chance to catch our breath a bit between superhero movies and steel ourselves for the blockbuster onslaught of summer. Next month brings exciting films like The Jungle Book and Key & Peele’s Keanu, along with the totally bonkers Huntsman: Winter’s War and a few thrilling indies (Green Room, anyone?). There’s much more in store in our guide to April’s new movie releases.
‘Avengers’ Star Jeremy Renner Is Down for a Hawkeye Netflix Series
Up until Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye didn’t have a whole lot to do in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making him something of an extraneous character. It’s unclear just how much of a part Hawkeye will have in Captain America: Civil War given the crowded slate of characters, but there is one place where Renner’s hero could take the spotlight: Netflix. Although Marvel currently has no plans to give their MCU stars a spinoff series, Renner says he’d be game to take Hawkeye to the small screen.
‘The Dark Tower’ Casts Newcomer Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers
One of the trickiest roles to cast in an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is that of Jake Chambers, the young boy who meets Roland Deschain during his journey in the first novel and becomes a key figure in the gunslinger’s story — not just once, but twice. He’s an incredibly vital member of the story, but given his age (11), the length of the series, and the impossibility of keeping a kid from growing up, Jake is easily the most difficult role to fill. But director Nikolaj Arcel has done it anyway, casting a relative newcomer in the long-awaited adaptation.
