Aldi, a German-based food retailer, has a following. With their no-frills service, including bagging your own groceries, putting a quarter into the cart to "rent" it for your trip, as well as either bringing your own bags or buying theirs for a nominal fee, they are able to keep their prices more than competitive.

Now, they're doing more to remain at the forefront of people's minds as they are shopping for organic foods. They are removing the following pesticides from all of their products on US shelves:

  • Thiamethoxam
  • Chlorpyrifos
  • Clothianidin
  • Cypermethrin
  • Deltamethrin
  • Fipronil
  • Imidacloprid
  • Sulfoxaflor

In addition to removing those pesticides, they are also expanding their organic food brands and gluten-free brands. They have removed synthetic colors and partially hydrogenated oils from their private label brands, which make up 90% of their sales.

Aldi is more than a discount grocer, as evidenced by their commitment to becoming more organic and their offerings of gluten-free foods. As a society, we have become more health-conscious, and are reading labels more. Aldi is making eating organic easier, you can save some money and eat more organic foods, sounds like a win-win.
