Four wrestlers from the Westfield Razorbacks won medals at the state tournament at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday. Sophomore Colton Krell finished as state runner-up at 160 pounds, improving on his fourth place finish in the same classification in 2017. He lost to Zach Schneider of Caledonia-Houston 9-2 in the finals. Krell won his first two matches by major decision to reach the semifinals, where he upset top-ranked Kelby O'Reilly of Goodhue 5-2 to reach the championship bout.

The Triton and Blooming Prairie girls' basketball teams open the playoffs at home this week. The Cobras entertain La Crescent Tuesday, February 20 at 7PM in Dodge Center in Section 1AA. The Awesome Blossoms host Wabasha-Kellog Thursday at 7PM in the ultra-competitive Section 1A tournament.

Owatonna hosts Rochester Century in the Section 1-5A football title game Friday night at 7PM at the OHS football field on KRFO AM 1390. The Huskies beat the Panthers 46-7 October 6 with Owatonna running back Jason Williamson scorching Century for a school-record 343 yards.

Triton scored on all but one possession while distributing the ball to 11 ball carriers while starting the season with a 50-7 victory at Byron Thursday night

Owatonna's Andrew Wall and Triton's Shelby Maloney are making their state golf tournament debuts Tuesday. For Blooming Prairie, it's back to where they've been before.

Blooming Prairie fast pitch softball topped JWP 2-1 Friday in their home opener. The Awesome Blossom baseball team dropped their season opener to Triton 7-6.

The Owatonna girls hockey season ended with a 3-0 loss at Northfield on Saturday in the Section 1A semifinals.

NRHEG was leading WEM 6-0 with 1:31 remaining in the fourth quarter when the game was postponed due to weather conditions Tuesday night. It will be finished on Wednesday.

The section football playoffs begin Tuesday. Owatonna has a bye. Blooming Prairie, NRHEG and Triton open at home. Medford is on the road.

Triton football coach Don Henderson can't remember the last time his team threw as many passes as they did Friday. NRHEG also used the forward pass with much success.
