The Owatonna girls' basketball team beat Rochester John Marshall 64-56 Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Section 1AAAA tournament, completing a 12-0 home schedule in the process. The victory sends the Huskies to a semifinal matchup with top-seed Lakeville North Saturday, March 3 at 1PM at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

The Owatonna girls' basketball team will open the Section 1AAAA playoffs at home Wednesday, February 28 as the fourth seed against No. 5 Rochester John Marshall. Game time is 7PM on KRFO AM1390. OHS (20-6) swept JM (13-13) this season 54-43 and 69-49. The winner goes to the Mayo Civic Center Saturday for a 1PM against the winner of top-seed and defending section champ Lakeville North (21-5) and Rochester Century (6-20).

Faribault beat La Crescent 3-2 in overtime Wednesday night in the first round of the Section 1A boys' hockey tournament. The Falcons go to top-seed Albert Lea Thursday at 7PM with the coverage on Power 96 radio. Eighth-seed Faribault lost to the ninth-seen Lancers 4-1 on February 1. Their only lead on Wednesday came at 6:31 of overtime when Braden Schroeder wheeled around in the offensive zone and fired a shot from the top of the left circle into the net.
