Kolstad was charged with Murder, second degree, With Intent-Not Premeditated. The Felony carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

Official filing for candidacy, assuming redistricting is completed will be May 17, 2022 through May 31, 2022 until 5:00 p.m. for all Rice County and City of Northfield, Faribault and Lonsdale elected offices.

The sales tax proposal would take the total burden off property taxpayers. It would also need legislative permission and voter approval.

Rice County Attorney John Fossum recommended Commissioners extend the period to provide detailed findings for the denial 60 days and adopt them at their next meeting in 21 days.
