The track and field season just wrapped up. Softball season continues through August. Bowling and flag football start in the fall for the Owatonna-area Special Olympics team.
Owatonna Special Olympics athletes will benefit from an amazing donation from Gopher Sport of Owatonna. The $10,000 donation will go toward operating costs, equipment and uniforms.
With a big crowd assembling for the first Polar Plunge in Owatonna to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota, the Owatonna Knights of Columbus made a check presentation to the local Special Olympics group.
I met nearly 175 people who are braver than I am on Saturday. Those fearless souls jumped into Owatonna's Lake Kohlmier to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota.
About 150 people signed up to jump in at the first Special Olympics Polar Plunge event at Lake Kohlmier. The event began at 1 p.m., and all participants had taken their turns a little more than a half-hour later.
For the first time the Polar Plunge is coming to Owatonna. Saturday at 1 p.m. more than 150 plungers will jump into Lake Kohlmier to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota.
Owatonna's three teams combined to go 10-0 and each won its division at the Minnesota State Special Olympics Poly Hockey tournament at the Breck School on Jan. 24-25.
