A season-ending celebration is in the air as our local softball teams deliver state titles.

High School sports scores Saturday, April 12

Back on May 3rd.the Cardinals and the Buccaneers met in Waterville and the Cardinals held on for the win 6-5. Jump forward to May 22. Same two teams, same location, same two pitchers. Different outcome.

It started out looking like a playoff game in Waterville on Thursday as the Cardinals and Buccaneers went scoreless until the 3rd Inning. Nicole Menard lead off the Cardinal 3rd with a double, Tess Glenzinsk got a walk and the Cards went on to put 4 on the board. WEM answered with a run in the bottom of the 3rd.

The sun was out off and on and it was a bit breezy at times at Todd Park in Austin and it was a great atmosphere for a section softball playoff game on Tuesday. The Faribault Academies Cardinals were the visiting team and were able to get Tess Glenzinski on with a walk in the first and a base hit from Breanna DeGrood...

Blooming Prairie senior pitcher Elly Strunk was impressive in a 5-2 win over Bethlehem Academy in the second round of West Subsection Class 1A softball Wednesday. The Cardinals defeated Blooming Prairie on the same field last Friday 5-0 to capture the Gopher Conference championship and the Awesome Blossoms looked like they were laser focused for Wednesday’s game...

The Faribault Falcon Fastpitch team defeated Owatonna 5-0 at Manthey Park in Owatonna on Tuesday night to run their record to 19-0 on the season. The Falcons left eight runners on base, seven in scoring position, while sophomore McKayla Armbruster tossed a four hitter...

After losing the lead in the top of the seventh inning to Albert Lea, Owatonna scored twice in the last frame to get a 10-9 win over the Tigers at Morehouse Park on Thursday.
