CBS Passes on ‘Nancy Drew’ Series Because It’s ‘Too Female’
Just take a moment to really soak in that headline. CBS, a major network in the United States, reportedly passed on a new Nancy Drew series because it was “too female.” Wow. In a country where women make up 51 percent of the population, it would just be totally crazy to green light a show about us. Thankfully, the contemporary update on the classic detective character is being shopped elsewhere, so hopefully they’ll find another network that doesn’t cringe at the thought of all this lady stuff.
There’s a ‘Three’s Company’ Movie in the Works, Are You Really Surprised
There’s a ‘Three’s Company’ Movie in the Works, Are You Really Surprised
With the endless stream of reboots and re-adaptations and remakes and reimaginings and re-whatever-other-word-we’re-using-now (revivals!), news like this becomes inevitable. Chances are, if you even vaguely recall a classic television show, it’s going to come back, and the best you can hope for is something like 21 Jump Street. At worst? It will cinematically haunt your soul, revealing the true insidious nature of your nostalgia like no horror you have ever known before. And with that Herzog-ian thought, we move onto today’s news: New Line is developing a movie based on Three’s Company.

‘Better Call Saul’ Cut Another ‘Breaking Bad’ Character From its Season 2 Finale
This week’s Better Call Saul Season 2 finale seemed overwhelmingly to point toward the return of a Breaking Bad guy favorite, something creator Vince Gilligan acknowledged fans had deduced for themselves. That said, it seems another member of Walter White’s world nearly made the cut into Better Call Saul Season 2, until Gilligan decided it would pull focus.

Warren Beatty ‘Very Serious’ About ‘Dick Tracy’ Sequel as His Howard Hughes Film Eyes Awards Season Release
Warren Beatty’s long-developing film about legendary director Howard Hughes is finally preparing to hit theaters, eyeing a fall / winter release this year — that’s excellent news, not only because the actor hasn’t had a major role since 1998's Bulworth, but because the Hughes film has long been a passion project for Beatty. But the untitled Hughes film isn’t the only project he has in mind, as Beatty is “very serious” about possibly returning to one of his older, beloved roles. Unfortunately, it’s not a sequel to The Parallax View.

Disney Adds ‘Peter Pan’ to Its Pile of Live-Action Remakes With ‘Pete’s Dragon’ Director
Surprise! (Not really.) Disney is developing yet another live-action remake of one of their classic animated properties, this time setting their sights on Peter Pan — which sort of feels like a real shots-fired situation following the failure of Joe Wright’s Pan over at Warner Bros. David Lowery, who recently helmed the Pete’s Dragon remake for Disney, has been tapped to direct and script a new live-action Peter Pan movie.

Benedict Cumberbatch to Voice the Grinch in ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’
Yes, we’re getting another adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but like the better of the two previous versions, this one will be animated, the way the good cinema lords intended. And in another bit of optimistic news, Benedict Cumberbatch will lend his voice to the title character, a greedy, mean old grinch who has a very valuable lesson to learn about Christmas spirit.

Benedict Cumberbatch, you busy bee. Just days after hanging around the comic shops of NYC dressed as Doctor Strange (and presumably some filming as well), the Sherlock star is already back in action for Season 4, popped collar and all. Check out the first look at Sherlock Season 4, courtesy of writer Mark Gatiss!
New MythBusters?
New MythBusters?
MythBusters’ 14-year run has barely had enough time to pack up its equipment, and already new faces might pick up the mantle from Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. The Discovery-owned Science Channel has in mind to revive the famous pop-culture science phenomenon, launching a Search for the Next MythBusters reality competition to find new hosts.
