What a day for baseball fans in Minnesota! The tournament brought some nail-biting matchups and standout performances that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

It was a holiday weekend filled with hometown spirit, as local baseball teams faced off in some thrilling matches.

The Class C and B State Amateur baseball tournaments start this weekend in Belle Plaine, Green Isle, Jordan and Shakopee. The lone St. Cloud area team playing in the Class B state tournament is the Cold Spring Springers. They will play the Minnetonka Monarchs Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Shakopee.

Faribault is now 6-8 and hosts Webster, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024. New Prague entertains Shakopee Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

The Lakers play Noon Sunday at home against St. Benedict while New Prague is at Lonsdale Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Region 5C amateur baseball schedule

The Owatonna Aces are still alive in the region playoffs and need two more wins to reach the state tourney.

Stewartville-Racine eliminated Owatonna from the Region 5C amateur tournament Saturday 8-3. Rochester then edged the Sharks 7-6 to earn a trip to state.

The Dodge County Diamondbacks earned a trip to the state Class C amateur baseball tournament by beating Rochester onSunday night at Fuller Field in Owatonna.

The Aces amateur baseball club sailed by Pine Island 13-3 in eight innings in Wednesday's Region 5C playoff opener at Fuller Field at Dartts Park.
