Owatonna Grad Carter McCauley Earns NSIC Player of the Week Honors

Owatonna High School graduate and Winona State kicker Carter McCauley earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the Northern Sun Conference this week.

McCauley booted a 29-yard field goal in the closing seconds to lift the Warriors past Minnesota State University-Mankato 34-31 Saturday. He connected on both field goal attempts and was 4-for-4 on extra points as Winona State improved to 4-1.

McCauley is 3-for-6 on field goals this season and has two touch backs on kickoffs. He is 14-for-18 on extra point attempts. WSU plays at Upper Iowa on Saturday, October 8.

As a sophomore in 2015, McCauley set a school record with 18 made field goals, which included a record 59-yard blast. He also averaged 62 yards on kickoffs with 24 touch backs. He even had a 70-yard punt in 2015.

McCauley started his college career with a pair of field goals in his freshman season and was 21-for-21 on extra point attempts.

At Owatonna High School, he earned All Big Nine and All State honors in football, soccer and baseball. He played at state in football and soccer and was a captain for all three sports. McCauley is a biochemistry major at Winona State.
