Steele County Fair Marketing Director Todd Hale reports that an all-time record was set this year for Mega Ride ticket sales with 5,477 for the all-you-can-ride wristbands.

Hale makes the announcement during an interview segment with the owner of Gold Star Amusements to air Thursday on the Bulletin Board program at 12:35PM on KRFO AM 1390. The Mega Ride tickets were only available in advance of the start of the fair. Holders are entitled to ride as often as they like during the fair. Gold Star offers about 40 rides in Steele County, including two Zippers.

University of Minnesota mascot Goldy Gopher made a Wednesday afternoon appearance at the Federated Insurance booth inside the Four Seasons Centre. He gave out plenty of high fives and mugged for pictures. When I asked him to take a selfie with me, he grabbed my phone and used the rapid setting to take about 35 pictures before I could wrestle the phone back.

Federated Insurance is sponsoring "Should I Risk it?" at the KRFO stage at the fair. Stop by and answer a question to win a prize from Federated Insurance.

I spoke with Jerry Ganfield, vice president of the Steele County Historical Society, on Wednesday at the Village of Yesteryearin  an interview that will air on KRFO on Friday and Saturday. He explained that the school building is closed due to a problem with the flooring. He said they discovered the substructure had rotted and has been replaced. They need to finish the project before reopening the building.

Ganfield also said a fundraising campaign is starting to build a service bay next to Gus' Station to house several old cars the historical society owns.
