The Cannon Falls Bombers had three set points in the first set at the Castle in Kenyon-Wanamingo High School but couldn't put away the Knights.  That was probably the story of the night.  Scores were 26-24, 25-17, 25-14.  It has to be hard to recover from that.  Give the Bombers credit they were down 8-4 in the second set and took a lead only to have the Knights persevere again.  It was the Hiawatha Valley League Conference opener for both teams.

The first set was mistake infested.  I kept track of all errors and in the first set Cannon Falls had 14 total errors and Kenyon-Wanamingo 11.  The final tally for the night was 26 for the Bombers and 19 for the Knights.  Before the match Head Coaches and sisters Melissa (Wickum) Huseth of Cannon Falls and Jen (Wickum) Nerison of Kenyon-Wanamingo both talked about limiting mistakes being a key to victory.

Both said the team with the fewest mistakes probably wins.  Ally Peterson had 19 kills for Kenyon-Wanamingo with 5 hitting errors and 8 digs.  Julianna Boyum finished the night with 7 ace blocks , 2 ace serves and 4 kills, Megan Mattson had 5 kills, Madi Luebke 19 assists and 9 digs, Riley Dummer 8 assists, 1 ace serve.

Our Held Bus Service Knights of the match were Peterson, Luebke, Dummer and Boyum.

The 2-1 Class AA #5 rated Kenyon-Wanamingo will host #2 Class AA ranked Stewartville Tuesday and the match will be broadcast on KDHL.
