Surprise, Kinsey is sharing another post on coffee! But hey, today is National Gourmet Coffee Day so I had to create another post on coffee shops!

So, in celebration of today, forget Starbucks! Head on over to one (or more) of these coffee shops in southern Minnesota, and indulge in your favorite drink!

After looking at many sites and reviews, these are the best Cafes in southern Minnesota with the finest coffee. They are also in no particular order.

Spyhouse (Rochester)

Okay, so I did want to start with Spyhouse coffee for the list because it really is an amazing café! Now that the new location in Rochester is open, you really need to go check it out, like now! You can view their full menu here with specialty drinks like Caramella (classic latte with their house-made caramel and vanilla) and Spygirl (their lavender and honey latte).

Mocha Monkey (Waconia)

Not only is Mocha Monkey a charming coffee shop, but they use their own hand-crafted pottery dishes (that you can buy too)! View their menu here which includes their caramel coffee smoothie! Furthermore, they have Panini sandwiches, specialty soups, and pizza!

Blooming Grounds Coffee (Winona)

Not only is Blooming Grounds located in the heart of downtown Winona, but I believe it is part of what makes Winona, Winona! Blooming Grounds is known for its coffee, occasional live music, and just a friendly and relaxing atmosphere! Not only do they have coffee, breakfast items, and dinner items on their menu, but also wine and beer! They really have it all.

Hanisch Bakery & Coffee Shop (Red Wing)

I mean you really can’t go wrong with a classic bakery serving delicious pastries, and delicious coffee too. Not only were they named the best bakery in MN by WCCO, but they are more than just a bakery! Visit their website here to view their breakfast, lunch, coffee, pastry, tea, frozen drink, and ice cream menus!

Acoustic Café (Winona)

Another place that shares being a part of the heart of Winona is Acoustic Café. As noted on their website, The Acoustic Café has been the recipient of numerous awards including the: Winona Area Chamber of Business Choice Award, 2001. The Red Carpet Award Recognition for Outstanding Service and Hospitality, 2006. Visit their website here and check them out for some coffee, food, wine, and live performances.

Main Stay Cafe and Coffee Co. (Marshall)

What used to be Daily Grind is now Main Stay! After the change of ownership, they changed the name to share that Main Stay “wants to provide delicious food and drinks that nourish the body and provide an atmosphere that nourishes the soul.” I mean what is better than that! Visit their website here or their Instagram.

Blue Heron Coffeehouse (Winona)

Now talk about gourmet! Blue Heron Coffee House has many specialty drinks including Café Miel (Latte, espresso, honey & cinnamon ∗deluxe: add cardamom & ginger) and Café Crème Brulee (Latte, honey, house-made vanilla, dusted with cinnamon). With daily fresh menus, fresh ingredients, and organic and sustainable coffee, you can’t go wrong. Visit their full menu here!

Mugby Junction (Winona and Mankato)

Last but not least is Mugby Junction with 2 locations in Southern Minnesota! And boy do they have a delicious and diverse menu. This includes cold brew and kombucha on tap (Winona)!! In addition, they have drip coffee, cold press, and Café Au Lait options. And of course, they have many non-coffee drinks including hot or chilled chai, teas, hot chocolate, and fruit smoothies. Visit their full menu here!
