Tucked away on an unassuming street, this iconic gem has earned a reputation as the best under-the-radar steakhouse in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. With sizzling steaks, a classic vibe, and rave reviews, this place is a Minnesota carnivore’s dream come true.

If you want to find something that most Minnesotans can agree on, talk about how much you love a good steak, right? Grilling and smoking various meats has become fairly popular not only here in Minnesota but across the country as well-- both steaks we grill at home or at classic restaurants that serve steak.

That's not a surprise, seeing as a survey in this Fox News story says that steak IS America's favorite meal. Steak is also what nearly 66 percent of Americans say they would request as their LAST meal, too.

Which also makes sense, given that we eat a LOT of steak: Americans consumed 27.6 billion pounds of beef in 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The United States accounted for 21.2% of all the beef consumed worldwide, the story noted.

Of course, you can get a steak at a lot of different places across the Bold North, from both local restaurants and chains like Outback Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse, or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. But just one Minnesota restaurant has been called the best under-the-radar steakhouse in the entire North Star State.

To find out, Cheapism commissioned a survey and said they looked at many restaurants but 'excluded the well-known chains, so our list features many cool, hard-to-find places, some hole-in-the-wall operations, and also some quite fancy and romantic places with dazzling views,' it noted.

So, which Minnesota restaurant fits that bill? According to Cheapism, the honor goes to Mancini's Char House on West Seventh Street in Saint Paul... the Best Under-the-Radar Steakhouse in Minnesota.

I've been to Mancini's several times, and it IS a cool place. Their slogan is "Surberb steaks. Classic cocktails. Amazing atmosphere." And I have to agree. Though I can't say I've had a steak there-- at least, not yet, that is. It's definitely on the To-Do list in the near future, however. Here's why Cheapism named Mancini's the Best Under-the-Radar Steakhouse in Minnesota:

Mancini's Char House turns out prime beef the Italian way, with dry-aged beef grilled on huge open-hearth charcoal pits. This decades-old, family-run business still boasts a cool retro bar and New York strips that earn rave reviews, along with loads of surf-and-turf options, live music, and garlic bread to die for. Save room for Flute Limoncello dessert or a cannoli.

Of course, the Twin Cities area is also home to several other classic steakhouses, including Manny's Steakhouse on Marquette Avenue. Manny's has routinely been named one of the best steakhouses in the U.S. and has even been called one of the best steakhouses in the world. I have had a steak there, and, yeah, it's amazing.

And don't forget the other classic steakhouse that's been serving mouth-watering meats in Minneapolis since 1946: Murray's on South 6th Street in Minneapolis has also been mentioned as being one of the best steakhouses in Minnesota.
