Final Google Reviews of Rochester’s Now Closed Damon Ramp
Yesterday, I took one last look at the Damon Patient Parking Ramp in Rochester, Minnesota. This ramp has housed my car for numerous appointments the past three years, as my husband is battling a few chronic illnesses. This has been a lifesaver for us, especially in those moments when my husband was in a wheelchair and unable to walk on his own. Sadly, this ramp officially closed on July 26th.

The Damon Patient Parking Ramp has been the real MVP of downtown Rochester for so many of us! It even has a few Google reviews! (Don't worry...I've got the best ones below for you to enjoy.)
"Goodbye, old ramp. You were the best game of parking roulette we ever played. R.I.P."
Real-Life Example Of Why The Damon Patient Parking Ramp Is the MVP in Downtown Rochester
Next week, my husband has appointments at Mayo Clinic again, and at the moment, he is unable to walk more than a block...and that is with a cane. Heck, I don't even know if he can go 200 feet.
Now that the Damon Patient Parking Ramp is closed, I drove by the new "drop off" area for Mayo Clinic in Rochester to scope out the situation. One look at it and I already know that our day of appointments is going to be one of the hardest days ever...all because of his mobility issues and the lack of available parking nearby that is feasible for patients like him.
As the caregiver, my job also just got harder. Taking this ramp away and not having an easy way to get over to Graham or the West ramp (because of construction) after I drop off my husband is now adding more time when I can't be there to help him. Will I be able to find a parking spot? Will I be able to connect back with him before his appointment so I can be there too?
I know big things are happening and there is a grand master plan to make everything better for patients. I'm thankful for that vision, the strategic thinkers, the crews that are making this creation happen with their hands. You are all part of the patient experience - not just the people we are seeing in the exam rooms. I know in the long run, this will be a better patient experience.
Right now, this is really hard - for patients - for caregivers.
Damon Ramp was an MVP for many of us.
