Rochester, MN Latest Town to Cancel Fireworks on the 4th
It's time to dust off the board games. The Fourth of July is unfortunately going to be a very rainy day. This also means disappointing news for many who were working on and planning to attend activities to celebrate this holiday. Activities in various Southeast Minnesota communities are getting canceled or postponed and unfortunately, news just hit regarding the plan for Rochester as well.
4th Fest and Fireworks Canceled For Rochester, Minnesota
Due to anticipated inclement weather, the 4th Fest Independence Day event and fireworks have been canceled.
The event and fireworks require extensive dry-weather set-up time, making a successful show this evening too difficult to prepare. If weather permits, the fireworks will be rescheduled for tomorrow, July 5. Updates will be announced via our website, social media and local news outlets.
City of Rochester Emergency Management Director Captain Jon Turk shares, “Canceling an event is never easy, especially when it is a summer tradition like the Fourth of July fireworks. Ultimately our top priority is the safety of our community and what is driving this decision.”
I was joking with my co-workers yesterday that if it gets rained out, I guess that is a sign to fold all of the laundry that has been piling up for a few days. Maybe we will make a cake too and have a piece to celebrate our country's birthday too.
