Wabasha, MN (KROC-AM News) - A second person has worked out a plea agreement with prosecutors in Wabasha County for his involvement in a baseball bat attack in Hammond two and a half years ago that left a man with severe injuries.

42-year-old Joshua Daniel Larson of Millville has admitted to a charge of second-degree riot while armed with a dangerous weapon. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of first-degree attempted murder, along with one count each of first and second-degree assault.  Larson is scheduled to be sentenced in June.

According to the criminal complaint, Larson was accused of repeatedly beating two men with a baseball bat outside a home in Hammond in the early hours of September 7, 2020. One of the victims suffered a broken jaw and cheekbone, a fractured eye socket, skull fractures, and a variety of scrapes and bruises. The other victim had injuries consistent with being struck by a bat with nails protruding from it, which caused puncture marks on his head, torso, and buttocks.

The court document says Larson admitted to investigators that he was present during the incident but he denied participating in the assault. His criminal history includes four previous convictions for third-degree assault.

An Elgin man previously admitted to third-degree assault charges for his involvement in the assaults. 32-year-old Elliott Glamm was sentenced last May to three years on probation.

The two final defendants in the case are Larson's wife, 37-year-old Stephanie Larson, and 53-year-old Daniel Luhmann of Hammond. Larson is currently scheduled to stand trial on attempted murder and assault charges in July. The attempted murder charges against Luhmann were dismissed in 2021. He is set for trial in May on first and second-degree assault charges.
