Sheriff’s Captain James Schueller said the incident occurred in the 3,000 block of 18th Ave. Southwest around 11 a.m. Monday. A father and son reported seeing a vehicle pull up in their driveway. The son told deputies he went to see who was in the vehicle and said the occupants rolled down a window and the boy pointed a gun at him, demanding he turn over his wallet and any money he had on him.

The son reportedly told the teens he did not have any money with him and instructed them to leave. Schueller said the vehicle departed the residence before a deputy arrived.

The son reportedly told the deputy he recognized the girl in the vehicle from the family's foster home operation. Authorities then found and stopped the suspect vehicle later in the day in the 1300 block of 19th Ave. Northwest. Schueller said the traffic stop led to the discovery of a Glock 17 that was reported stolen out of Owatonna in August 2021.

The girl was also jailed on suspicion of receiving stolen property and fifth-degree possession of marijuana.
