Mother Struck by Vehicle in Twin Cities Dies from Injuries
A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says officers responded to the report of an injury crash involving a vehicle and three pedestrians. It was reported at an intersection in south Minneapolis around 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 36-year-old woman, her 14-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son were crossing the street when they were struck by a Hyundai. All three were taken to a nearby hospital.
The mother suffered life-threatening injuries and her children suffered non-life-threatening injuries. On Monday investigators were informed the mother of the children had died from her injuries.
Her name and official cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner upon completion of an autopsy.
Police say the driver of the Hyundai, described as a 23-year-old man, remained on scene following the deadly collision and was cooperative with officers.
So far no arrests have been made. The deadly incident remains under investigation.
