Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - There has been another conviction in the massive Minnesota Feeding Our Future fraud case.

The US Attorney's Office in Minnesota says a 42-year-old Eagan woman is the latest defendant to enter a guilty plea. Kawsar Jama went before a federal judge on Monday and admitted to a single count of wire fraud.

According to court records, Jama was accused of submitting approximately $4.5 million in fraudulent claims for reimbursement to the Minnesota Department of Education, which was administering a Federal pandemic and nutrition program. Prosecutors alleged the claims involved fictitious invoices for meals served to children at locations in the Twin Cities and Pelican Rapids.

The charges brought against her indicated that her business claimed that it provided more than 233,000 meals to children at the Pelican Rapids site between September and December 2021. The criminal complaint notes that the community has a population of only about 2500 people.

It was alleged that, use the proceeds from the fraud scheme to purchase real estate and vehicles.

Her sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
