Rochester Man Accused of Causing Crash, Fleeing Scene Then Burglarizing Home Captured in Wabasha County
29-year-old Drew Douglas Wiskow Davis was booked into the Wabasha County Jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary, according to jail records.
Olmsted County Sheriff's Office Captain Tim Parkin says deputies were dispatched to an area west of Elgin around 7 a.m. to check on a suspicious vehicle after a caller reported seeing a person slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle on the side of the road.
As deputies arrived at the scene, which was near the junction of 105th Avenue and 65th Street Northeast, Davis sped away.
Parkin says the fleeing vehicle, which was not being pursued, crashed into another vehicle on Wabasha County Road 25 near Elgin. Davis then fled on foot.
A short time later, authorities received a 911 call from a residence near the location of the traffic crash.
Parkin says the homeowner reported that someone, later determined to be Davis, had broken into the caller’s home before fleeing on foot to a nearby outbuilding then running into a cornfield.
FINAL UPDATE: The subject of today's manhunt is in custody.
The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office announced the capture of Davis shortly after 9:00 Tuesday night. Details regarding his arrest have not been released.
The State Patrol says the driver Davis collided with, identified as 42-year-old Peterson Roy Peterson of Rochester, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
