
One Killed, Another Severely Injured in SE Minnesota House Fire
Hokah, MN (KROC-AM News) - An early morning fire in a small southeastern Minnesota town has left one person dead and another with severe injuries.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office says its dispatchers were notified of the fire at a home in the town of Hokah around 4:30 a.m. Responding deputies reported that the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene.
Extreme Burns
A news release says deputies located a woman outside the residence suffering from “extreme burns throughout her body” and other injuries. She was transported to a hospital in La Crosse for treatment. Information about her medical condition is not available.
Victim Found After Fire Extinguished
The Sheriff's Office says after firefighters extinguished the flames, the body of a person was found in the rubble. The name of the deceased and the name of the injured woman have not been released.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting the Hokah Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff's Office with the investigation into the cause of the deadly fire.
