Highway 14 Project Between Byron & Dodge Center is Finished!
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation has some welcome news for motorists who often travel along Highway 14 west of Rochester.
MnDOT announced this afternoon that construction crews have completed the repaving work and safety upgrades on the highway between Byron and the Dodge Center. That means all of the traffic lanes have been reopened and the last of the construction barrels have been removed.
The project included the construction of a new J-Turn at the intersection with Dodge County Road 9 and the installation of a new high-tension cable median barrier between Dodge Center and Kasson.
A MnDOT news release says the new J-Turn is the second to be installed on Highway 14 between Rochester and Owatonna. The first was added last year at the Olmsted County Road 3 intersection on the east edge of Byron.
Crews also repaved the previously bumpy stretch of Highway 14 between Kasson and Byron and repaired the eastbound and westbound bridges over Highway 57.
A news release says the upgrades also included improved drainage and new pavement sensors and a processing unit for the Road Weather Information site near Byron.
