Charges in Rochester Child Rape Case Dismissed
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The charges against a Chicago man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl in Rochester last year have been dismissed.
The criminal complaint against 52-year-old Anthony Dawson was filed in Olmsted County Court in April. It alleged that he raped a girl, under the age of 10, in August of last year while he was in Rochester to attend a birthday party. According to the charges, the girl told investigators the man woke her up twice during the night and took her to a different room in the home and sexually assaulted her.
He was charged with a single count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The Olmsted County Attorney's Office has now filed a notice in court announcing the dismissal of the criminal complaint against Dawson. The filing states that "there is insufficient evidence for the state to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt."
