What? Target Self-Check will “Snitch” on You with Too Many Items
When Minnesota based Target implemented the Self=Check lanes, I figured you need to treat it as an express line. Like the 15 items or less kind of a deal. I only went through that line when I only had a basket full of items. But, I would see people pulling up to those registers and they have an entire cart full of stuff. I just feel like common sense would tell you this is a bad idea.
As you know, common sense isn't necessarily common anymore.
After this seemed to be an issue at many Target stores, Target Corp finally implemented the rule that the self-check was just for 10 items or less. If you had more than that, you would need to go to a regular cashier to ring up your purchases.
One thing that was also added was a trigger at the self-check lane that would buzz if you had more than 10 items. And, this happened to someone over this weekend. And, of course, she posted about it on social media. She was so embarrassed!!
Now, after this, a spokesperson from Target said that the machine does not beep at you if you scan too many items. That was something that they had in the beginning, but have removed that since then. But other shoppers say that this has happened to them as well. So, maybe in some stores it does, and some it doesn't? Either way, I do think it's kind of funny.... go through the regular checkout lane!
Target, cracking down. Funny.
