HOSPITALIZATIONS DUE TO SALMONELLA

I'm almost afraid to eat these days with all the recent recalls. The latest recall involves cucumbers, salads, and wraps that could make you sick. According to a recent article, there have been at least 68 people in 19 states. 18 of those individuals have been hospitalized.

The companies that are recalling the cucumbers include Agrotato in Senor Mexico, which were sold by importers between the dates of October 12th through November 26th, 2024 according to the Food & Drug Administration.

SunFed Produce, Baloian Farms of Arizona Company, and Russ Davis Wholesale have also recalled cucumbers and multiple products that include them.

ABOUT SALMONELLA

If you purchased whole cucumbers on or after October 12th and are not sure of the origin of the cucumbers, you should ask the store where you purchased the items if they are part of the recall or throw them away.

Salmonella can cause diarrhea and cramping. Symptoms usually start within 6 hours to six days after ingesting the bacteria. Most people will recover without treatment within a week or so, but some people, especially older adults and the very young may experience more severe illness that could require hospitalization.
