Delta Unveils New Ticket Option for Minnesota Flyers
If you're flying into or out of Minnesota, chances are high that you are doing so on a Delta airplane, as the airline has a 60 to 70 percent share of all the flights at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. The airline’s footprint at MSP has shaped how Minnesotans travel, especially during the fast-approaching holiday season.
Delta’s New Ticket Option Arrives in Minnesota
As the busy holiday travel season approaches and people plan for post holiday vacations into the winter months, Delta is rolling out a new ticket option called “Comfort Basic.” It comes with a few extra perks along with some restrictions, giving travelers a middle-ground option that sits between bare bones and fully flexible.

The new ticket is essentially an upgrade to their “Main Basic” fare, which offers no perks and very limited flexibility. Delta says Comfort Basic includes “all the essentials” while giving travelers more choice.

Passengers who book Comfort Basic will get more legroom, zone 3 boarding instead of zone 8, eligibility for Delta Sky Miles Club access, free wine, beer, and spirits on most flights, and dedicated overhead bin space. For frequent fliers heading from Minnesota to warm-weather destinations this winter, that mix of perks may be worth the upgrade.
Limited Availability for Now in MN
The new Comfort Basic tickets will only be available on very select Delta-marketed and operated domestic itineraries, so it may take some digging to actually find flights that offer it. Delta says the tickets will go on sale starting November 19. These seats must be paid for and cannot be booked with miles.
Having more choices is always welcome, and in the competitive world of air travel, airlines are constantly looking for ways to stand out. With Delta holding such a massive portion of Minnesota’s air traffic, this new tier may become a go-to option if it expands to more routes.
